Good Day All,

As we are approaching the start of a new season I wanted to welcome all parents to NALL. For those returning WELCOME BACK we’ve missed you. For those new to our league WELCOME we have been waiting for you. As most of you are aware when you enroll your child into any sport it usually means you are enrolling yourselves as well. Now one of the roles that we ask for a lot of help with is Umpiring. The duties and responsibilities of an umpire are quite often misunderstood. So, I wanted to take a minute to simplify it for you all. The responsibilities are quite simple.

·         Call a FAIR and unbiased  game to the BEST of your ability

·         Keep the game moving

·         Make every attempt resolve any issues that may arise (on the field)

·         DO NOT worry about the spectators. This is the responsibility of the Board Member on duty

·         And most of all HAVE FUN!!!!

Now I know you must be thinking there is more to it than this.  Well technically you are correct. However, if you can manage to focus on these key points you are going to have a much better experience. We will offer Rules Clinics as well as Umpire Mechanics classes for ALL. Even if you have NO intention of umpiring the Rules Clinic is still something that would benefit everyone. As for who can umpire, EVERYONE is able to umpire. We assign a certain amount of games to our team managers to cover, but that doesn’t mean it must be done by them. If you would like to help we would love to have you. Thank you all for your support and I look forward to working with you all soon.
